While winter is beautiful, with fields of white, white snow and black trees showing their bones, I don’t like winter. It makes me very lazy and I want to sleep, read, eat, watch movies on television. I function, I go through motions; my brain hibernates and I can barely write in winter. The only activity I enjoy in winter is walking my dog, who loves to roll and jump in the white landscape, as it’s all there for her pleasure. Better attitude than mine. She raises my spirits and gets me to another day. It’s spring that shakes me awake, connecting me with growth and creativity and possibility. Spring is life, rebirth. It’s another chance to try and discover and live again. It offers the prospect of eternity and joy.
